Causes of Candida
Three Common Causes of Candida
If you’re suffering from Candida overgrowth then you’re aware of the discomfort and problems it causes.
The good news is that once you’re able to determine what is causing your yeast overgrowth you can eliminate the cause and begin to treat the symptoms and the overall problem.
Here are three common problems of yeast overgrowth and how to recover.
Causes of Candida One - Antibiotics.
Antibiotics are a great thing. They’ve saved countless lives and can help you or a loved one recover from a serious infection. They treat everything from lung infections to acne.
Antibiotics work by killing bacteria. However much like chemotherapy, which kills both the cancerous cells and the white blood cells causing you to become weak and risks infection, antibiotics kill both good and bad bacteria.
Killing the bad bacteria is fine; it’s killing the good bacteria which cause problems. When the good bacteria are eliminated there’s nothing left to keep fungus like Candida in check.
It’s quite common for women in particular to go on antibiotics for an infection and end up with a vaginal yeast infection.
If you must take antibiotics for an illness or infection then it’s important to take other measures to protect yourself.
There are two immediate things you can do which are to make sure you’re getting enough fiber. If you’re
constipated, the matter collecting in your intestines is a great breeding ground for Candida. Eat plenty of veggies and whole grains and get that stuff out on a regular basis.
Secondly, Candida thrives on sugar. While you’re on antibiotics and for a week or two after you complete the prescription,
eliminate sugar from your diet.
This includes fruits, alcohol, breads made with yeast, cheese and dairy and sugar substitutes. This will effectively eliminate Candida’s food source and prevent overgrowth.
Causes of Candida Two - Diet
As we just mentioned, sugar is a fuel source for Candida. Which means if you like to eat a lot of sugary foods, and don’t we all, then you’re feeding Candida. In addition, sugary foods include things like fruit, alcohol and dairy because of the lactose.
However, it isn’t just sugary foods that can feed Candida, yeast foods, fungus like mushrooms and anything fermented like soy sauce or even smoked meats can also feed Candida.
It’s important to know that Candida is a natural entity and a small amount lived inside us and on our skin. It’s when the Candida becomes overgrown that it causes problems.
So by eliminating these foods, a Candida diet, for a short period of time you can essentially starve the Candida and bring your levels back to normal.
Causes of Candida Three - Medications and toxins
Anything that compromises your immune system and your body’s ability to remove toxins can cause a Candida overgrowth. This is because Candida in and of itself isn’t the problem; the problem is the toxins the Candida releases.
Healthy bodies can eliminate these toxins when they’re in small amounts however if your body is already compromised by dealing with other illnesses or because you’re taking certain drugs like steroids or immune suppressing drugs, then your body cannot compensate and eliminate those toxins.
While Candida causes a whole host of symptoms and problems recovering from it begins with adjusting your diet so it doesn’t have the fuel it needs to grow. There are also supplements you can take and antifungals if you’re dealing with an immediate reaction like a yeast infection. Candida can be overcome.
